Wisconsin Woman A Finalist For Powerball First Millionaire Of Year
The coming new year could prove to be especially lucky for one of 29 finalists in an upcoming nationwide Powerball contest. Twenty nine finalists are competing for the chance to win a $1 million prize in the "Powerball First Millionaire of the Year" promotion. One of the finalists is from Wisconsin.
According to details shared by both the Wisconsin Lottery and WMTV-TV, there were almost 21,000 entries from the state. Of those - Amy Hughes, a WInd Lake resident, was chosen to join 29 other finalists to take part. Wine Lake is located just to the immediate southwest of the Milwaukee metro.
The prize will be awarded on December 31 - New Years Eve - right at midnight during the perennial holiday themed "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacreast 2023". For the first time since 2019 - before the pandemic - the drawing will be held in-person in Times Square.
This is the fourth year that Powerball has held the contest.
Similar to how the event was held in past years, entrants were chosen in a number of different ways depending on how their state participated. Some were chosen by lottery contest while others were randomly selected to be in the national pool.
The following states and jurisdictions are taking part in the First Millionaire of the Year Powerball contest: Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, MIssissippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virgin Islands, Virginia, Washington D.C., West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
