Winter Storm Watches Issued In Over 10 MN, WI Counties
Here we go again! We got our first real snowstorm of the season over Thanksgiving weekend. It was not great timing but it never is. Ha!
Now, it looks like we have another storm in our sights in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. The good news is this one doesn't look to be as extreme for now.
If you believe in the Old Farmer's Almanac, you can breathe a sigh of relief: they are predicting the next major storm to hit in January of next year. So maybe this one will be mild?
As of early Monday (December 8th), we have some moderate snowfall in our forecast with several winter weather alerts all across the state. Let's break it down.
Winter Storm Watch For Northern Minnesota Counties (Dec. 9th)
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the following counties beginning on Tuesday afternoon and through the evening: North and South Cass, Crow Wing, North and South Aitkin, Carlton, Pine and South St. Louis.
WHERE: This includes Duluth, Aitkin, Hill City, Pine Rivre, Walker, Hinckley, Pine City and Brainerd. This watch is for heavy snow with three to five inches possible across the areas mentioned, along with the Tribal Lands of the Fond Du Lac Band and the Mille lacs Band, East Lake, Big Sandy Lake and Lena Lake area.

WHAT: The National Weather Service says to expect icy roads, especially on your evening commute on Tuesday. Snow will be heavy and fall quickly, with one-half inch to an inch of snowfall per hour possible.
Winter Storm Watch For Several Wisconsin Counties (Dec. 9th)
Minnesota is not the only place that will be impacted. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing through the evening.
WHERE: This is for the following counties and cities including Superior: Douglas, Bayfield, Ashland, Iron, Burnett, Washburn, Sawyer and Price counties. Cities impacted include Bayfield, Spooner, Grantsburg, Hurley, Washburn, Ashland, Hayward and Phillips.

WHAT: 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation is expected. The National Weather Service says to expect slippery roads throughout the day and especially on your evening commute Tuesday. Snow will fall at a rate of half an inch to an inch an hour.
