Tall Ships Late Arrival Includes Goats On A Boat
The Festival of Sail, formerly known as Tall Ships, had its Parade of Sail on Thursday, July 10th. I wanted to get on my boat and get out there to witness it, but by the time I arrived, I had already missed the ships coming in from under the Aerial Lift Bridge. It's a real bummer, too, because they were firing off cannons on these old replica ships!
We trolled along and looked at the ships from the harbor. There's some really beautiful boats and stories behind them. Check out those photos below.
Then, I saw something coming into the canal way off in the distance. It was another sailboat, but there was something different about this one. As it got closer, we realized they were rowing with oars.
They took down the mast and came under the lift bridge. The captain stood up in the back of the boat and yelled to the crowd watching, "We made it!"
The boat was like an old skiff, almost like a Viking ship. It was really cool looking, but I had to wonder how far this boat had come. I shouted to the Captain, "Where did you guys sail from?" He replied, "Knife River!"

They sailed this boat in pretty rough water all the way from Knife River? That's impressive.
Then I looked closer and noticed they had goats on their boat. Yes, goats. Why did they sail all the way to Duluth with goats on their boat?
If anyone knows who these people are, I'd love to find out what's going on with these goats. Let me know!
