How Many State Highway and Bridge Projects Are Happening in Minnesota in 2025?
Every summer, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) tackles hundreds of road, bridge, and infrastructure upgrades. And while many of them are modest resurfacing jobs, some are massive, multi-year efforts costing tens, or even hundreds of millions of dollars.
According to MnDOT’s 2025 construction season list, there are 175 state highway and bridge projects currently underway or beginning this year.
Where Does the Money for Minnesota Road Projects Come From?
A mix of state and federal funding, gas taxes, license tab fees, and bonding bills all help cover the costs. Some projects also rely on federal infrastructure grants, especially when bridges or safety upgrades are involved.
Together, these funding sources make it possible for MnDOT to tackle major infrastructure upgrades across the state. And in 2025, some of those upgrades come with especially hefty price tags.
