Minnesota Child Dead From Crash Injuries – Mother Facing Charges
Rush City, MN (KROC-AM News) - Additional charges are expected to be filed against a Minnesota woman accused of driving under the influence of drugs and causing a crash last Friday that injured seven people, including her four-year-old son, who died from his injuries today.
According to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, 36-year-old Ashlee Klapperick of Mora was driving north on a rural road near Rush City when her vehicle collided head-on with a southbound minivan. She had two children in her SUV, while the minivan was occupied by a woman and three children.
A news release on the deadly incident indicates both of the children in Klapperick's vehicle were airlifted to a hospital in the Twin Cities, while all four occupants of the minivan were transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
Following her release from the hospital, Klapperick was taken into custody and charged with multiple counts of criminal vehicular operation. The charges allege she was under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana at the time of the crash.

A news release issued today by the Sheriff's Office indicated the Chisago County Attorney had been notified of the child's death and is expected to amend the criminal complaint with more serious charges to reflect the fatality.
