MUST SEE: Minnesota Neighborhood Lights Up With Massive 14-House Synchronized Christmas Light Show
If you love checking out Christmas lights around Minnesota, there’s a quiet little cul-de-sac in Farmington that absolutely refuses to be subtle. And bless them for it.
Tucked away on 198th Ct W in Farmington (about 30 miles south of Minneapolis), you’ll find every single home on the street, 12 of them, plus two extra neighbors, running Christmas lights perfectly synced to music.

And here’s the part that makes it even better: They’re collecting donations for Toys for Town (through the Farmington Police Department) and the Farmington Food Shelf. You can bring toys, non-perishable food, or even donate via Venmo on-site.
The project started thanks to organizer Krista Miller, who told KARE 11 that she fell in love with light shows after seeing one in 2023. She described being “mesmerized” by how the lights transformed the music, saying it transported her back to listening to Christmas music with her dad by the tree, a memory she called “a warm embrace.” That moment kicked off her deep dive into learning the whole setup, and eventually, she pitched the idea to her neighbors.
Turns out, she picked the right neighborhood. “Luckily, we live in the most festive (and a little competitive) cul-de-sac in the Midwest 😆 and everyone was all in,” she told KARE 11.
This is only their second year doing it, but last season they still pulled in $837, 442 pounds of food, and a trunkload of toys, along with another $180 in donations. Not bad for year one.
If you’re putting together your holiday lights tour or just want to feel a little extra festive, this Farmington street is absolutely worth the detour. And while you’re there, consider dropping off a toy or some canned goods.

The display runs nightly from 5:30 to 10 p.m. now through January 1, and all you have to do is tune your radio to 87.9 FM to hear the soundtrack while the lights dance along. You can also follow the 12 Homes of Christmas on Facebook for updates.
