Owatonna boys hockey buried Mankato East 11-0 Thursday. The OHS girls won 5-3 at East. Blooming Prairie basketball won their games over Kenyon-Wanamingo.

The Huskies boys hockey team barreled out to a 9-0 first period lead over the Cougars on the way to an 11-0 victory. Noah Scheid and Mitchell Mayer each had a hat trick. Alec Holcomb had a goal and two assists. Trase Wencl, Adam Rehman and Mitch Wiese each had a goal and a helper. Ryan Johnson made 15 saves for his second shutout in his third varsity start.

The Huskies (7-7-1 overall, 5-3 in the Big Nine) go to Rochester Mayo on Saturday at 7:30PM on KRFO AM 1390. It will be the Huskies' final game against legendary Mayo coach Lorne Grosso unless the teams meet in the playoffs. Grosso is retiring after 49 years and more that 700 wins at the helm of the Spartans.

Leading 2-1 after two periods, the OHS girls hockey team added three more in the third for a 5-3 win at Mankato East on Thursday. Jessica "Betty" VonRuden had a four-point night. Asia Buryska got the win in goal. Owatonna (14-6, 9-3) hosts Rochester Mayo Saturday at 7:30PM at Four Seasons in Owatonna.
