The Owatonna Fire Department has added life-saving safety equipment, thanks in part, to a grant from the Owatonna Foundation. Representatives of the foundation visited the fire station to get an up-close look at the new gear. The $10,000 matching grant from the foundation falls under their community grant category.

"We are just so thankful to the Owatonna Foundation for their continued support," Ryan Seykora of the fire department states in a news release from the foundation. "With a grant in 2020, we were able to purchase lockers for our gear and equipment and the grant this year helped us purchase life saving equipment for our fire trucks that we just trained on this week."

He added, "We both have a mission of helping the Owatonna community and we aree happy to have such a great organization like the Owatonna Foundation as one of our supporters."

Angela Gonzales with the Owatonna Foundation says, "We appreciate all of our donors so much and we are so proud of the philanthropic nature of our community of Owatonna. Without our amazing donors, grants like these for the Owatonna Fire Department would not be possible."

Since 1957 Owatonna Foundation has donated close to $13 million toward projects that fit into the area of recreation, arts, education and community.

8 Things You Can Wear so People Can See You In The Dark

Please, for the love of all things, get yourself as visible as possible if you are out on the roads when it is slightly dark or completely dark out. I know these may not look "cool" or fall into the trendies fitness or fashion trends but wearing one of these items could save your life...and I don't know, but that is pretty much a big deal in my world.
