Zumbrota-Mazeppa went 2-7 in 2015. Friday night they picked up win No. 2 in the second week of play when they score a touchdown in the closing seconds of the game to defeat the Cobras in Zumbrota on Friday night.

The Cougars took their opening drive down the field and with 9:54 left Jacob Bennet scored the first of his three touchdowns on the night with a 1-yard run. Teryn Erickson kicked the extra point and that made it 7-0. That would be the only points the Cougars get in the first half.

Then at 5:17 to go in the first, Hunter Jennings scored for the Cobras on a 1-yard run, the extra point run failed and it was 7-6 Z-M. the teams moved the ball back and forth and then with 7:34 to go in the second quarter Drew Kelly for Triton, who is getting time in place of Leif Bungam, ran for 5 yards and picked up six more for the Cobras and it was now 12-7 Triton. The Cobras would get one more before halftime as Jennings ran one from five yards, the extra point again failed and it was 18-7 Triton at the half.

With 6:54 to go in the third quarter, Zach Miller blocked a Cobra punt and got the Cougars a first and 10 at Triton's 37. On the next play, quarterback Isaiah Stueber handed off to Jacob Bennett for a 37-yard score. Erickson was good on the point after and it was 18-14 Triton. The Cougars then went ahead on another Bennett touchdown, the extra point run failed and it was 20-18 Z-M. The Cobras scored with less than a minute to go in the game and again with their two-point conversion failing it was 24-20 Triton. The Cobras kicked off and Caden Steffen returned the ball back across mid field and the Cougars were left with about 35 seconds to get six. They got down to 4 seconds and about 10 yards out and Steuber connected with Jacob Neibuhr in the end zone as time ran out for the win.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa (2-0) will face Dover-Eyota (0-2) on the road and Triton (0-2) will face Winona Cotter(0-2) at home.
