Here in Minnesota, we're known for lots of famous products, and many Fortune 500 companies make their home here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes as well. But check out which product this new survey says is our biggest export.

I don't know much about exports, I guess, because the results of this survey leave me scratching my head. Check it out:

This HowMuch.net story created a map that lists The Biggest Export in Every State in 2017. And, for Minnesota, what would you think it would be? I was thinking maybe corn or soybeans, seeing how big agriculture is here. But, nope. That's not it.

And it's not cereal, either, which was my second guess. I mean, come on, cereal giant, General Mills, has their corporate headquarters located in Golden Valley, so that would seem to make sense too, right? Wrong.

As it turns out, according to this story, Minnesota's biggest export last year was... needles. Needles?!? As in medical needles? Knitting needles? What does that even mean?!?

Whatever it is, it's apparently big business here in the Bold North-- the story lists Minnesota as having exported $798 million dollars worth of needles last year! (The list is just as confusing for my home state of Wisconsin, by the way, where it lists 'airplanes' as the Badger State's biggest export last year. Airplanes?!? Where's the beer or cheese?!?)

Who knew?!? Either way, welcome to Minnesota-- Land of 10,000...Needles!
