The Owatonna wrestlers opened their home schedule with a triangular sweep Thursday, while the OHS gymnasts were sweeping their home finale. The wrestlers whipped Mankato East 51-12 and Austin 72-4 to stay unbeaten in the Big Nine. The gymnasts reached 146.85 points, well ahead of Northfield and Austin.

Huskies' wrestling goes to the Dave Arens Classic at Bloomington Kennedy High School Saturday, January 27. Teams in the field include Zumbrota-Mazeppa, Simley, Hastings, Minnetonka, Woodbury and Champlin Park. Wrestling begins at 9AM with radio coverage starting around 1PM on KRFO AM1390.

The match against Albert Lea, which has been postponed twice by weather, is rescheduled for Saturday, February 3 with a 3PM varsity start.

Owatonna gymnastics honored their seniors and parents in their final home meet Thursday. OHS seniors include Erica Svenby, Grace Pick, Macy Hanson, Morgan Welker, Becca Olson and Taitlynn Jensen.

Olson won the bars routine with a 9.525. Junior Sydney Kretlow won the vault with 9.525. Freshman Lindsay Bangs captured the balance beam with 9.325 and won the all-around with 37.325.

Coach Tom Smith said the team set a school record on the uneven parallel bars during the recent Jackson County Central meet with 37.225. OHS wraps up the regular season at Faribault Friday, February 2. The Big Nine meet is the following weekend with sections to follow. OHS is the defending conference and section champ.
