The National Weather Service announces that a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for southern Minnesota until noon today.

According to the weather service, Tuesday's winter storm continues to move east. Expect light morning snow showers that will produce minimal accumulation.

Today's travel concern is blowing and drifting snow on roadways in open country across portions of south-central Minnesota, particularly along and south of a line from Redwood Falls to Mankato to Owatonna. Northwest winds of 20-25 mph, with gusts near 30 mph, will cause blowing and drifting snow, making for difficult travel and reduced visibilities.

If you must travel, be sure to have extra food, water, blankets and a flashlight available. You can get up-to-date road reports from 511mn.org.
