Owatonna Parks and Rec will launch their Park Passport program on Friday, September 9. It'll be your chance to get exercise, enjoy Owatonna's free parks and maybe win prizes. The first step is to go to the Owatonna Passport website and get the needed information.

Yellow signs will be put up Friday and remain up through September 22. Take along your passport and write down the word on the sign. Signs will be up in Dartts Park, Mineral Springs Park, Manthy Park, Kaplan's Wood Trail, Leo Rudolph Reserve and Straight River Trail. A completed passport means you've walked 12 miles. Good for you. Yes, it is good for you.

Prizes include:

  • $450 gift certificate toward a Brooktree Golf Course membership next year
  • a bike package gift certificate to Straight River Sports
  • 30 passes to River Springs Water Park next season
  • Pack of sporting equipment valued at $100.

September 23 through October 3 the yellow signs will be replaced by white signs in different locations in the six parks. Turn in your completed passport to Parks and Rec for a chance to win prizes.
