Would you notice if one of your license plates was missing? It might be a good idea to check now and again.

The Kenyon Police Department Facebook page reports that they received a call from a resident that a license plate had been stolen from a truck while it was parked in the owner's driveway. The license plate is now into the system as being stolen.

The posting indicates people steal license plates for a couple of reasons. Someone may want it because the tabs are current, leading to less attention from law enforcement. It may also be taken because the thief plans to commit a crime and figures it will be harder to track them.

The Kenyon Police ask you to call if you have any information on this incident. The dispatch number is 651-385-3155. The department reports the resident was comfortable with sharing the information and a picture of his vehicle to help create awareness of this crime.

The Minnesota Department of Motor Vehicles reports that a new license plate needs to be applied for right after losing plates.
