Weekend Sports Recap

OHS Girls Hockey lost at Bloomington Jefferson Saturday; the Steele County Blades topped Ironwood Saturday; the Prep Bowl football championships are set.

O-H-S GIRLS HOCKEY

The Huskies made it up I-35 before a major accident closed the freeway for an extended time on Saturday. Bloomington Jefferson scored a 5-1 win over the Huskies. Jamie Davison scored Owatonna's goal. The Jaguars heavily out shot the Huskies (1-2). Owatonna hosts Eveleth-Gilbert Friday November 21.

OWATONNA'S OTHER WINTER SPORTS

It's game week for Huskies Boys Basketball, who open their season Friday November 21 at Rochester Century. OHS Boys Hockey plays their season opener Tuesday November 25 at Rochester Mayo. This week is the first week of practice for high school wrestling and girls basketball.

STEELE COUNTY BLADES

Steele County Blades Junior Hockey opened their weekend set with Ironwood, Michigan with an 8-4 victory. Jaeger Zwygart (Kansas City Missouri) and Joel Lehtonen (Helsinki, Finland) each netted a HAT TRICK. The Yoopers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, but the Blades rallied to a 3-2 lead by the first intermission.

The Blades closed the weekend with a dominating 10-0 victory over the Yoopers, out shooting their opponent 74-23. Lehtonen had a second consecutive hat trick.

The Blades play at Maple Grove Saturday November 22 at 2:00pm. On Sunday November 23 Steele County is at the Rochester Ice Hawks at 5:35pm. Their next home game is Friday November 28 vs Hudson.
