There are plenty of reasons for Minnesota Vikings' fans to be encouraged after their 29-19 season-opening win over New Orleans at U.S. Bank Stadium Monday night. Owatonna's Todd Walkingstick attended the game and came away feeling good about many aspects of the team.

The new offensive line allowed just one sack, and protected quarterback Sam Bradford enough for him to be 27-of-32 for 346 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Dalvin Cook set a team rookie record for rushing yards in his first game with 127, breaking the mark held by Adrian Peterson, who mostly watched the game from the Saints' sidelines.

The Vikings' defense shutdown the potent New Orleans' offense, repeatedly holding the Saints to field goals.

Walkingstick also enjoyed the crowd's reaction to the induction of Randy Moss into the Vikings' Ring of Honor. The Jostens' display of championship rings was another highlight for Walkingstick, though he didn't like seeing so many Green Bay Packer rings.

He knows the Vikings face another tough test Sunday September 17 when they play at Pittsburgh.
