The NTSB announced that a father and son team were moving the gas meter when the explosion occurred at Minnehaha Academy, killing two staff members.

Centerpoint Energy is working to remove gas meters from inside buildings for easier access. I know of this plan because at was done at my former grade school in Minneapolis a few years ago.

The National Transportation Safety Board has jurisdiction over gas line explosion investigations. They will be asking many questions about Master Mechanical, the contractor working on the project. They want to know about what the company was doing for 72 hours prior to the incident, and whether there were any impairment issues or distractions involved.

The big thing to happen next is that the NTSB needs debris to be moved to make the building safe enough for them to enter so they can investigate the inside of the building. They are also going to make sure the debris removal does not damage any possible evidence in the case.
