Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A recent discovery of dozens of pieces of mail in a car that had been involved in an incident in the Byron area has led to criminal charges against two people.

Mail theft charges have been filed against 21-year-old Evan Prendez of Byron and 26-year-old Chelsea Jenkins, who is listed as homeless.

They were spotted last month in a Byron neighborhood by a neighbor who called 911. When the car was located, deputies found over 160 pieces of mail and packages inside, all with Byron and Rochester addresses.

Prendez told investigators Jenkins came up with the plan to steal the mail and he was the one who drove the car.

Prendez has been ordered to make his first court appearance Nov 21. An arrest warrant has been issued for Jenkins, whose whereabouts are unknown.
