Turnovers Doom Kenyon-Wanamingo Boys Again

With two minutes to go in the first half the score was tied Tuesday night in a HVL Blue Division game between Kenyon-Wanamingo and Triton in Dodge Center.  Then the Cobras went on a run to take a 37-30 lead at the half and never looked back in a 65-40 victory.  It was the Cobras first win of the season and sent the Knights home with an 0-4 record.  The story for K-W again was turnovers. After 25 points were scored by Cannon Falls last Friday off 23 Knight turnovers the Cobras capitalized on 23 turnovers to score 23 points.  Kenyon-Wanamingo was 11 of 12 from the free throw line in the first and didn't shoot a single free throw in the second half.  Triton was 6 of 11 from the charity stripe.  Triton had 10 turnovers and K-W scored six points off those.  Our Held Bus Service Knights of the game were 5'11 Sophmore Gavin Roosen and 5'11 Senior Connor Sviggum.  Roosen collected 18 points and four threes and Sviggum was 6 for 6 from the free throw line and finished with 9 points.  Triton was led by 6'0 Junior Isaiah Wannarka with 18 points and 6''1 Senior Michael Thomas had 16.  6'5 Junior Garrett Dahms added 10.  Kenyon-Wanamingo had just 10 points in the second half on 4 field goals scored by two players.  Triton also tallied 38 points in the lane and Kenyon-Wanamingo had 14.  Triton got a number of  turnovers just by being physically stronger than the Knights.  The 1-3 Cobras now go to Goodhue Friday while K-W hosts Hayfield. The Kenyon-Wanamingo at Hayfield girls game will be on KDHL Radio, 920AM Friday night while the Faribault Falcon girls are on POWER 96 in Albert Lea.
