Ground has been broken at Rochester Mayo to install a turf field. Triton High School in Dodge Center will do the same soon, with the field ready to be used in the fall.

The change at Mayo will be the second turf field in the Big Nine Conference, along with Winona. Triton's upgrade will put them on par with neighboring Kasson Mantorville with a state of the art surface.

"We're really excited. We're going to be dropping in a turf field this summer."

"Part of my job is to make sure this project is worthwhile and that the field is used. It's obviously not just a football field."

-Don Henderson, Triton Activities Director

Henderson says the field can also be used softball games, baseball and softball practice, and will improve the facility for track. The field will also be lined for soccer, even though the Cobras don't offer that sport.
