Triton High School's One Act Play will perform at this week's state festival, presenting "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)."

The Minnesota State High School league hosts the 67th annual State One Act Play Festival at St. Catherine University's O'Shaughnessy Auditorium in St. Paul on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 12 and 13. Triton is appearing for the third time.

Triton's students will perform "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday during the Class A competition. Other qualifiers in Class A are Roseau, FAIR School (Minneapolis), Sauk Centre, Maple River, East Central, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton and Wadena. The public is invited. Admission is $10 per session. There are two sessions per day. Triton will lead off the second session. O'Shaughnessy Auditorium is at 2004 Randolph Ave., St. Paul.

This event is a festival -- not a competition. However, each production will be judged and publicly critiqued immediately after each performance. Each cast will attempt to achieve an exceptional rating known as a "starred performance." In 2014, for example, seven of the 16 plays, were awarded "starred performance" ratings.

The plays are limited to no more than 35 minutes, after a maximum 10-minute stage set-up. Total cast and crew cannot exceed 20 students.
