Pine Island got a big win on Friday night when they defeated the Triton Cobras 30-29 in overtime. This is the first win for Pine Island over Triton since the 2005 season.

Jake Navratil set the tone right away by taking the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. Nate Marx got the extra point to make it 7-0. The Cobras then moved the ball down field and Max Henderson scored, Otterbein kicked the extra point and it was 7-7.

Pine Island was then faced with a punt situation, but instead Tristan Akason connected to Navratil for a 53-yard touchdown play. Extra point run was no good and it was 13-7.  Bryce Hinrichsen connected to Akason, again the extra point was no good and it was 19-7 Pine Island at the half. The Cobras' Henderson scored in the second half on a 2-yard run, Otterbein kicked the extra point and it was 19-14. The Panthers were unable to score on their next drive, Cobras moved it again and got another touchdown from Henderson, the extra point run was good and the Cobras were now up 22-19. Pine Island moved the ball down field in the last couple of minutes of the fourth quarter. They could not get the touchdown, but Marx kicked a field goal to tie it 22-22.

Triton got the ball first in overtime. Garrett Dahms caught a five-yard pass from Leif Bungum. Otterbein kicked the extra point and it was 29-22.

Tha Panthers got in the end zone on their last play. At first it looked like there was going to be a penalty to nullify it but the referees said there was no flag so Kyle Groven's TD was good and Aaron Gillard got the 2-point run to give the Panthers the win.

Pine Island plays Zumbrota on the road and Triton faces Dover-Eyota at home to finish the regular season.
