Tommy Braaten, Blooming Prairie, Runs Away with State Golf Title

Blooming Prairie senior Tommy Braaten won the Class A state title Wednesday, extending a four-stroke lead to a whopping ten-shot victory at Pebble Creek in Becker.

Braaten’s score increased slightly from a school-record 68 in Tuesday’s opening round to an even-par 72 Wednesday. All his pursuers saw their scores go up even more. Braaten is the second Awesome Blossom golfer to capture a state title, joining Lisa Meshke who won in 2000. A special welcome home was held Wednesday night for Braaten.
