Six-foot-1 senior guard Jalen Mobley collected 25 points in 28 minutes and added six rebounds and four assists. Nowhere was the attack mentality more evident than Mobley's 13 of 19 shooting at the free throw line. The Governors trailed 20-19 with 6:58 to go in the first half and led 36-23 at the half.

Waconia took the court after the break and got within seven points in the first several minutes only to see St. Paul Johnson go on another run to lead by 12 with 3:45 to go. In addition to Mobley's 25 points, Malik Jones added 13. Waconia, defeated by Faribault during the regular season, was 12 of 22 from the free throw line, while Johnson was 19 of 28. The Governors shot 39 percent from the field and tallied 15 offensive rebounds. The Wildcats shot 42 percent and were out rebounded by St. Paul Johnson 41-36.
