Upfront season has already given us a few pickups, but so too must cancellations follow. FOX’s The Mindy Project has become the first high-profile casualty of the season, canceled after three full seasons, but with a twist: Hulu may already have stepped in to revive the acclaimed comedy.

Per Deadline, The Mindy Project’s FOX cancellation comes as little surprise, given the perpetually low ratings, and the series’ origin with Universal Television, rather than in-house with FOX. Critical raves had done little to curry favor for the comedy, though fans have quick hope for The Mindy Project’s future.

According to reports, Hulu has already entered into negotiations for a two-season pickup, fitting, given that prior seasons are already available to stream on the service. Hulu has rapidly been searching for original programming to expand its slate as well, similar to Netflix’s two-season rescue of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Considering how relaxed Mindy Kaling herself seems over Instagram, we wouldn’t worry about The Mindy Project just yet.
