Minneapolis (KROC AM News) - Tuesday marks the 10th anniversary of the deadly collapse of the 35W bridge in downtown Minneapolis.

The sudden collapse of the busy bridge during the afternoon commute killed 13 people, injured dozens of others and left the largest city in the state without a significant piece of its traffic infrastructure.

Construction work began soon after the collapse and the new bridge opened Sept. 18, 2008 - 13 months later.

Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered all U.S.and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset Tuesday in honor and remembrance of those who were killed or injured in the disaster.
