The quarterfinals went well for Owatonna High School wrestlers on Friday at the Mayo Civic Center Arena in Rochester. Ten advanced to Saturday's semifinals. Six won with pins.

Eleven of Owatonna's 14 wrestlers will hit the mat again on Saturday in search of a trip to Xcel Energy for the state tournament next week. Semifinals begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Listen for coverage on KRFO AM 1390.

On Friday, nine won their quarterfinal match-ups, and one did not have to wrestle but still advanced to the semifinals. Goy Tut was in a small bracket at 220 pounds and earned two byes. Winning by pin were Peyton Robb, Justin Tacheny, Alex Green, Griffin Thorn, Kyle Clausen and Austin Abbas. Technical falls were scored by Christian Scheffert, Tanner Cole and Brandon Moen.

Parker Aase made his varsity debut Friday night as a late fill-in at 145. He lost his quarterfinal match versus No. 2-ranked Taylor Venz of Farmington. But Aase earned his first varsity victory in the wrestle backs (by forfeit) and will be in action Saturday.
