Former classmates Ted Urch and Kenzie Soukup captured Owatonna Open golf championships on Sunday. Both are 2014 Owatonna High School graduates.

Urch fired a 71 on Saturday at the Owatonna Country Club to build a five-stroke lead atop the championship flight. Urch shot 72 Sunday at Brooktree to finish with 143 for a three-stroke win over Denver Dierson. After an opening round 76, Dierson rallied with a 70 at Brooktree, the low round of the day, to finish at 146. Tanner Grimmius shot 155, one shot in front of Andrew Wall.

A tie for fifth with 157 included Chris Norbury, Tim Holland and Cooper Hager. Three others shot 158 to tie for eighth. They were Dave Johnson, Chad Hacker and Jeff Hall.

Soukup shot 82 each day for a 164 total to beat former high school teammate Maddie Peglow by 12 shots. Maria Rogers won the women's low net with 148. Karin Steffenson finished with 152. Kelli Hallquist had 156.

The men's senior division low gross winner was Mark Rodde with 156. Tom Heisler had 161, Dave Cameron shot 171 and Dave Swenson finished with 179. In the super senior division, recently retired OHS boys golf coach Keith Bangs shot 176 to win. Terry Warner was second with 184 and Bert Bemmels came in with 188.

The men's first flight winner was Esmaeil Torabpour with 154. Jason Baumgartner had 156 and Matt Tveitte was third with 160. In the second flight Justin Fletcher shot 158, followed by Dean Braget with 161 and Paul Lykken with 163.

In the men's third flight, Reza Josi shot 169. Tom Shea fired 170 and Joel Olander 172. The men's fourth flight winner was Bryan Baird with 172. Dan Wagner and Sam Hager each shot 179.

The junior open winner was Mac Baumgartner with 180. Johnny Wall won the 14-and-under title with 183.

About 100 golfers took part in the annual event.
