An 11-match winning streak ended Tuesday at the Owatonna High School courts as Rochester Mayo topped Owatonna 5-2. A pair of singles players for the Huskies, Macy Voss and Megan Johnson, took matches against the No. 4 ranked Spartans.

The Owatonna girls tennis team continued its sparkling start to the season with a 7-0 sweep of Rochester John Marshall Thursday. Owatonna (8-0 overall, 7-0 in the Big Nine) plays at a non-conference tournament Saturday at Waseca.

Three Owatonna High School teams opened their seasons Thursday hosting Farmington. Results were mixed.

Three Section 1 football teams won their state quarterfinal games Friday. Two out of three volleyball teams representing the section lost in the state tournament semifinals.

Owatonna raced to a 25-11 win in the opening set Thursday night, but Faribault bounced back to push the match to five sets before the Huskies escaped with the 3-2 win.

Five Owatonna High School varsity teams competed Tuesday. The Huskies girls and boys soccer teams plus the girls tennis team scored wins.
