The Minnesota Department of Transportation has opened a public comment period for residents to offer feedback on the next round of funding from the Corridors of Commerce program. In a news release this week, state senator John Jasinski, a Faribault Republican, urges Steele and Dodge County residents to share their opinions to include Highway 14 funding in the next round of appropriations.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announces that plans are now in place for the demolition of the Steele County Road 31 bridge over I-35 starting Monday night, August 28.

New bridge decks and reinforcement work is scheduled for Steele County Highways 18 and 31 bridges. The Highway 31 bridge is slated to close on Monday, August 14. The bridge will be demoed during the overnight hours of Monday, August 21. This will result in a closing of I-35  from 8PM on August 21 until around 8AM August 22...

As if there is not enough road construction going on already, another project will start on Monday, July 10, on many roads in the area: chip sealing. Chip sealing involves putting down a thin layer of heated asphalt on the road surface followed by the placement of rock chips, and those are compacted to allow for the maximum adherence to the roadway...

As if the headaches of the Lowry Hill Tunnel repairs weren't enough, another traffic headache is coming this weekend. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is closing Interstate 35W starting at 10PM Friday. Northbound lanes will be closed from the Burnsville split with I-35E to Interstate 494 in Bloomington...

Last weekend the Lowry Hill Tunnel was closed on the westbound side of Interstate 94 and four lanes were established in the eastbound side of the tunnel, two going east and two going west, so that repairs can be made to the westbound side. Then in August, traffic will switch to the westbound side...
