Owatonna High School senior Zach Mensink closed his prep football career in fantastic fashion by playing the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Florida Saturday. Mensink, a captain for the state champ Huskies, announced plans to play football for the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse in mid-December.
Owatonna High School junior Jason Williamson has made a verbal commitment to play football for the University of Minnesota, reports Gopher Illustrated. Williamson's family confirms the news with a post on twitter.
2013 Owatonna High School grad Carter McCauley is now a Winona State University graduate as well. He finished his undergrad degree in Cellular Molecular Biology this month and earned another Academic All-America award, his third. He holds numerous kicking records for the Warriors and in the Northern Sun Conference.
The Owatonna High School football team had many aspects of their state championship season to recognize during Sunday's banquet. Many individual and team records were set, many awards were earned, but most of all coach Jeff Williams said it was difficult to say goodbye to a special group of players.
