Coach Don Henderson is in his final season at the helm of the Triton Cobras. I am sure he would love to get into the quarterfinals of the state tournament.
It was a typical fall night in Pine Island for some high school playoff action. Although the winds were up a bit and wind chills were in the 20's. It was also a typical Pine Island vs Zumbrota match up. A tough battle.
On a beautiful night at the Snake Pit in Dodge Center the Triton Cobras faced off against the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars. And it is usually not a pretty picture when Cobras and Cats get together. And it was the final regular season home game for coach Don Henderson who is retiring after 28 years at Triton.
It was a chilly rain soaked night in Red Wing on Friday. it was still raining a bit during warm ups and there were puddles on the sidelines. But it's high school football in Minnesota. And as long as there was not any lightning, the game goes on.
When Mark Dorencamp and I covered the Hayfield game with Bethlehem Academy last Friday night, we knew there was a possibility that the Vikings would have some problems with the rest of their season. They only had 22 come out for the team this year and they only had 17 people to put on the field last Friday.
Friday night the Bethlehem Academy Cardinal football team traveled to Hayfield to face the win less Vikings.. Hayfield is having a difficult year with only 22 players out for the team and they only dressed 17 on Friday night.
