With the five newest inductees into the OHS athletic hall of fame looking on, the Huskies beat the Raiders 34-23 for their third straight win.

Owatonna jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead and built that to a 27-3 advantage by halftime on their way to a 34-23 victory over Northfield. Sam Hylle dashed 53 yards and seven yards to cap Owatonna's first two drives.

After trading punts, the Owatonna defense limited Northfield to a field goal early in the second quarter. On the ensuing kickoff, Bryce Goodwin sprinted 95 yards for a touchdown and a 21-3 lead. The next Raiders drive ended on an interception on a ball batted in the air by Blake Westphal and caught by Hylle. That set up a short TD drive and the 27-3 halftime lead.

Northfield, which rallied from a three-touchdown deficit against Mankato East last week, scored twice in the third quarter to pull within 27-16. Early in the fourth quarter the Huskies went for a fourth down and nine from Northfield's 20-yard line. Alex Emanuelson threw into the end zone for Dalton Kubista, who won a battle for the ball with a defender. That boosted the Huskies lead to 34-16 with 9:15 to go. Northfield scored on their next possession for the final margin of the game, 34-23.

Hylle carried 26 times for 164 yards. He also helped shore up the linebacker corps for Owatonna with the absence of Alex Holcomb due to a knee injury. Hylle won the Kottke Jewelers Diamond Player of the Game honor for his efforts.

Owatonna (3-1 overall, 2-0 in the red division of the Big Southeast district) plays at Austin on Friday, Sept. 18.
