As of December 22, the Steele County United Way campaign stands about 95 percent of goal. Just a bit short of $25,000 is needed to reach the campaign goal of $700,000. There's been quite a big late push as the campaign was about $200,000 shy of goal just a couple of weeks ago.

Campaign head Kim Schaufenbuel, David Albrecht and Steele County Food Shelf Director Stormy Trom were guests on AM 1390's Talk of the Town. The Food Shelf has actually seen a slight increase this year. They're serving about 600 families or 1,200 individuals a month and putting out about 50,000 pounds of food.

This year's campaign is committed to serving 24 agencies in the upcoming year. Gopher Sport is serving as lead corporate sponsor for this year's campaign.

Donations by December 31 may be used as a tax deduction when you get them done this spring. Learn more about the campaign or give online by going to the Steele County United Way campaign website.
