On Sunday, May 15, the Steele County Humane Society will clean-up their designated Adopt-a-Highway, rain or shine, according to a press release.

The day begins with a meeting at the Owatonna Business Incubator, 1065 S.W. 24th Ave., at 8:30AM. The meeting will include a safety video. The humane society will bring the doughnuts, and they suggest you bring a couple of beverages, especially water.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will provide safety vests and garbage bags. The suggested attire includes:

  • long pants
  • heavy shoes or boots
  • gloves
  • hats
  • sunglasses/sunscreen
  • a grabber, so you will have less bending

A reminder that there will be walking in long, heavy grass and hilly areas. The clean-up will take a couple of hours, the more help the faster it will go.

The SCHS will transport participants to and from the area using their van.

If you would like to sign up or have any questions, call (507) 451-4512.

Also a note that Pet Adoption Day will be Saturday, May 21, from noon to 2PM at Cedar Valley Services SMART Transit, 3325 Ninth St. N.W. Take Old Highway 14/Hoffman Drive west toward Waseca, then turn left onto 32nd Avenue Northwest. Turn left on Ninth Street Northwest. Cedar Valley is on the left.
