The Steele County Historical Society will be offering tour guide training in April. Sessions will be at 1PM on April 3, 10 and 17 at the History Center. All three sessions will be the same. They will consist of classroom training and a tour.

Volunteer tour guides will lead visitors to the various buildings at the Village of Yesteryear and History Center. Guides will also relate historical information about the buildings. There is also a need for volunteers to remain in one building and act as a building host during large events at the Village such as the Historical Extravaganza. Volunteer interpreters are also needed. They will perhaps play the role of a significant Steele County figure and dress according to the time period and may also do demonstrations.

To be a volunteer, you must be at least 16, enjoy history and be able to speak to crowds. You will also be asked to commit to at least one tour twice a month. The tours average about two and a half hours.

You can learn more by going to the Steele County Historical Society webpage. Reserve your spot for training by calling (507) 451-1420.
