The Steele County Historical Society announces children’s programming for Thursday, October 2nd at 9 a.m. and at 6:30 p.m. at the History Center.

The History Detectives (pre-school age children) will meet at 9 am at the History Center, 1700 Austin Road, Owatonna. The Time Travelers (K-6th grade) will meet at 6:30pm. The topic this month will be all about pumpkins. Children will learn through stories, activities, and taste about this favorite fall staple. They’ll even get some seeds to take home and grow pumpkins of their own next year. It will be pumpkintastic!!

“We are thrilled to have another children’s opportunity for October. Fall is a wonderful time to celebrate in Minnesota. We have a rich history of pumpkin related events and activities in the County. From Queens, contests, and more, we’ve celebrated the pumpkin a lot!  It is wonderful to share this with our children and for them to have fun and experience our history.”

- Laura Resler, SCHS Director.

Children’s programs are offered on the first Thursday of each month.

The History Center is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am until 4 pm, Thursdays from 10 am until 8 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am until 3 pm. For more information, please call our office at 507-451-1420 and ask for Laura.
