The Steele County Historical Society will present its monthly children's programming on June 4 at 9AM and 6:30PM. All area children are invited.

 

The historical society welcomes preschool children to be a History Detective at 9AM on Thursday, June 4, for a scavenger hunt at the Village of Yesteryear. The participants will get to know the buildings and what is in them during the program.

Elementary age kids (kindergarten through sixth grade) can be a Time Traveler on Thursday at 6:30PM at the History Center on Austin Road. They will meet Lt. Col. Paula Dow Snitker, who will tell her story of being a female pilot and will do a salute to service. Historical Society Director Laura Resler said in a news release, "We're excited to have Paula join us this month and share her military experience. She will be an inspiration to all that attend."

Also upcoming at the History Center is a presentation from local author Michael Eckers on the Nuremberg Trials on Thursday, June 4, at 6:30PM.

The Historical Society will bring sports author Bob Showers to town at 7PM Thursday, June 11, for a presentation on his bookThe Twins at the Met. Showers is the author of the best-selling Minnesota North Stars: History and Memories with Lou Nanne. His book on the Twins' time at Metropolitan Stadium covers players, highlights and candid moments of the Twins' 21 seasons in Bloomington.
