Steele County Death Being Investigated

Multiple agencies are investigating a death in Steele County. In a news release to KRFO Radio, the Steele County Sheriff's Department reports on the incident.

About 6:30PM on Sunday, October 23, the Steele County Sheriff's Office and the Owatonna Fire Department responded to the 2000 block of 52nd Avenue Northwest on a suspicious call. Deputies located a vehicle on fire in a farm field upon their arrival.

After the fire was put out, the body of an adult male was located inside the vehicle. The identification and cause of death are under investigation. The vehicle was a total loss.

The news release indicates the Steele County Sheriff's Office, the Steele County Coroner's Office, the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office-Mayo Clinic and the State Fire Marshal are working together on the investigation.

Further details will be released as the investigation continues. The reported location is just north of old Highway 14, west of Owatonna.
