The Steele County Blades built a 4-2 lead with three quick goals in the second period but the Dells Ducks rallied to force overtime and won the contest 7-6 Friday in Wisconsin.

After an even 1-1 first period with the shots nearly even as well, the action quickly escalated in the middle frame, which featured seven combined goals and a fighting ejection.

After the Ducks went ahead 2-1 midway through the second period, Steele County responded with a three-goal outburst in a span of 32 seconds. Chase Wedding, Colton Sprenger and Griffin Waters scored for the Blades. It was Waters' second goal of the night. The Ducks stormed back with three of their own before the horn to take a 5-4 lead into second intermission.

Steele County drew even in the opening minute of the third period with Sprenger's second goal. The Dells regained the lead five minutes later. Chase Lewis forced OT with a tally in the closing minutes to tie the game at 6-6. The Ducks scored for the 7-6 win.

The Dells outshot the Blades 46-40. Steele County went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Ducks did not have a power play.

The teams meet again Saturday night.
