Many things are being done this year to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the United States entering World War 1.

The Steele County Historical Society will be offering something unique, a self guided tour of county cemeteries highlighting the lives of 20 Steele County veterans who played a role in World War 1. How it works is you purchase a map for $5 at the Steele County History Center. This map will direct you to the cemeteries in the county and the graves of these veterans. At the graves you will find a kiosk which will contain biographies, photographs and information about their lives.

You can set the pace you wish to take on this tour. The limited time tour will be available 10AM till dusk on Friday, November 10, Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12.

While we're on the subject of history, here's something a little more recent. This youtube video was posted a year or so ago and got a lot of comments and jarred many memories. Here is is again in case you missed it the first time. It's a visit to Owatonna's old Cedar Mall.
