The 2 year bridge replacement project is drawing to a close. A total of twelve bridges have been replaced the last two years with eight on I-35 and four bridges on Highway 14.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced that Highway 14 paving work was done last week with the striping of the westbound lanes scheduled for his week if the weather cooperates. After the striping is completed, Highway 14 westbound will be reopened to traffic resulting in four-lane traffic once again. It's expected that there will be a lane closure later in September or early October as some work on one of the slopes that support the highway needs a bit more work.

Weather permitting, crews are working toward opening traffic back on the northbound lanes of I-35 on October 10.

Meanwhile a number of road projects are due to start any day now in Steele County weather permitting. Read more here
