Star Wars: The Force Awakens has dominated almost the entire world at this point with over $1.5 billion at the worldwide box-office after just 20 days. But, there’s still one country where the film has yet to open: China. To “help” celebrate the release of the film, Lucasfilm has named LuHan, a former boy-band singer from Beijing, as the “official China Ambassador for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” This means LuHan, a self-described “social media star,” has recorded a brand new Star Wars theme song with the requisite music video, complete with cameos by R2-D2 and BB-8.

How can we put this politely? We can’t, it’s horrible. It’s some sort of dubstep-y, Justin Bieber pop song that includes bizarre lines like, “Drive your breath with laser light” and “I’m the leading actor, cuz I’m feeling the force.” Comparing it to Justin Bieber isn’t even fair, because for whatever you can say about Biebs’ personality, he at least has some musical talent and has been known to put together a catchy tune. This song, “The Inner Force,” has none of those things. The accompanying video (which has effects from ILM) is equally as baffling. He seems to be Force sensitive, but uses those powers to dance around an abandoned warehouse.

Maybe some of this is lost in translation (literally?), as Han has, according to Billboard, 12 million followers on Weibo (China’s dominant social media site) and holds the Guinness World Record for most comments on a single post (13,163,859, on a comment about Manchester United’s football team). And Disney has to do something. Box office in the United States was driven largely by nostalgia for the original films, but the original Star Wars trilogy wasn’t even available in China until June 2015, almost 40 years after A New Hope first premiered in American theaters.

According to Disney, the Star Wars music video will be “aired on national TV programs, streamed on online video platforms, and screened as a pre-movie ad at cinemas across China” in advance of the film’s opening on January 9.
