The St. Olaf Band will be at the Owatonna High School on Saturday, January 23, beginning at 7PM. The concert is free for students, $10 for adults and seniors. There is a group rate for 10 or more available.

The St. Olaf Band from Northfield has been under the direction of Professor of Music Timothy Mahr since 1994. He has taken them to Norway in 1996 and 2005. In 2000, they went to Britain and Ireland. The St. Olaf Band toured Mexico in 2004 and were also in Minneapolis. They were at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in New York City in 2003.

This year, the St. Olaf Band will be playing at local high schools in Milwaukee, Chicago, Bowling Green in Ohio, also Arlington, Virginia and Philadelphia, and Montvale, New Jersey. On February 6, St. Olaf Band will be in Carnegie Hall.

The musicians in the St. Olaf Band are from all over, including all areas of Minnesota including the Twin Cities and our area.

Erica Hall of Waseca plays the tenor saxophone. Also from Waseca is Ricard Stahl, who plays the trombone. Matthew Tylutki from Austin plays the cornet/trumpet, and on bass trombone is Ben Stevens of Rochester.

The St. Olaf Band has 95 members.
