The St. Mary's School Night of Knights auction entered the technology age this year with mobile bidding. The event raised about $160,000 for the Owatonna school.

Principal Kathleen Segna says mobile bidding "went off without a hitch." She says people were walking around looking at their phones to keep up on their silent auction items. The school had charging stations set up, as well as bidding stations with laptops for those who did not have a smart phone. Organizers were also there to assist people who needed it.

Early figures indicate that Saturday's auction raised about $160,000 dollars for the school. Also new this year was a Super Silent auction that was open most of the night with some bigger-ticket items. Some new raffles and the usual variety of baskets were also bid upon.

Segna added, "We are so grateful to all of those who came to support our students here at St. Mary's School."

The spring season brings a feeling of winding down to the school year. Spring testing is coming up, along with field trips.
