KDHL Soybean Planting Broadcast at Paul Bauer’s Farm

Special thanks to Paul Bauer for hosting the annual Soybean Planting Broadcast on Thursday afternoon. It was fun to talk with a lot of the businesses that Paul works with throughout the year. We always try and schedule the broadcast when the planting is pretty well done so it is more relaxed. A number of farmers have commented that this was one of the most enjoyable planting seasons they could remember. Soil conditions were ideal and we got the crop planted in a very timely manner. This year was quite a contrast to the two previous years. They were so wet and some fields never did get planted.

It was also fun to be at Paul's because he has other interest too. Paul has restored a lot of John Deere and Allis Chalmers tractors. Plus, a couple of cars. My favorite was this 1967 GTO. It has a big V-8 engine with 500 horsepower and will go from 0 to 120 mph in six seconds! As a birthday present, Paul gave me a ride. We went out on the blacktop and Paul burned a few miles off the rear tires!
