A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 8:45PM for southwestern Rice and northeastern Le Sueur counties.

At 7:59PM, National Weather Service radar indicated a severe thunderstorm was located near Montgomery, 20 miles northwest of Faribault, moving southeast at 35 mph. Wind gusts of 60 mph and quarter-sized hail are possible. Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.

This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southwestern Rice and northeastern Le Sueur counties, including the following locations: St Henry, Kilkenny and Heidelberg.

For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

At 7:48PM, a severe thunderstorm was located near Lonsdale, 9 miles west of Northfield, moving southeast at 25 mph, according to area law enforcement. Expect 60 mph wind gusts and half-dollar size hail.

Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.

This severe thunderstorm will be near

  • Dundas around 8:05PM
  • Northfield around 8:10PM
  • Nerstrand around 8:25PM

Other locations affected by this severe thunderstorm include Faribault airport, Ruskin and Bridgewater. This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 57 and 70.

This thunderstorm is capable of producing all types of severe weather including large hail, straight line winds and tornadoes.
