There were top five finishes for Jake Johnson (Owatonna High School) and Taylor Hagen (Blooming Prairie) at the state track and field meet Saturday. VFW baseball scored a sweep over Winona at Fuller Field.

Owatonna Huskies junior Jake Johnson finished fourth in the finals of the 110 high hurdles Saturday morning at the state meet at Hamline University. He had the seventh-fastest qualifying time of 15.05 seconds in Friday's preliminaries. His time in the finals was 14.82. He had won the section title with a time on 14.58 on Saturday, May 30, in Lakeville.

Owatonna senior Matt Kingland ended up in 13th place in the high jump on Saturday. He cleared 6-2 but did not get past 6-3. He was the section champ the week before with a leap of 6 feet, 5 inches.

OHS freshman Margo Achterkirch ran the 200 dash on Friday but did not make Saturday's finals.

Triton sophomore Leif Bungum finished eighth in the 100-meter finals Saturday afternoon.

Blooming Prairie senior Taylor Hagen took fourth place in the Class A shot put with a toss of 38 feet, 11 inches.

The Owatonna VFW 10 team swept a doubleheader from Winona Saturday at Dartts Park. Owatonna rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win the opener 6-4 and blanked Winona 2-0 in game two. The VFW hosts Cannon Falls Sunday at 6PM.

The Owatonna VFW 9 squad is playing in the Burnsville Tournament and tied St. Cloud 2-2 on Saturday.

The Aces amateur baseball team lost 11-7 at Zumbrota on Saturday. Owatonna is scheduled to play at Plainview on Sunday afternoon.
