The NRHEG girls basketball team had their 61-game winning streak snapped. OHS girls basketball won their home opener vs Mayo, while the Huskies boys lost at the Spartans.

A season opening 62-59 loss to Waseca ended the NRHEG girls basketball team's 61-game winning streak, that includes the last two state AA championships.

The Owatonna girls basketball squad scored a 60-44 home-opening victory over Rochester Mayo on Tuesday. Anna Edel and Syd Schultz scored 16 points apiece for OHS (1-2, 1-0). Owatonna used a 15-0 run in the first half to erase an early deficit. The Huskies play at Mankato West on Thursday. OHS won the JV game 36-30.
