The Steele County Sheriff's Office reminds parents to keep watch over their children while attending the Steele County Free Fair.

According to a press release, on Thursday evening the Sheriff's Office responded to a report that an elderly white male approached a child near the cattle barns and tried to walk away with the child. The child's parent caught up to the male and retrieved the child. The child was unharmed.

According to the report, the elderly male appeared confused about the child and didn't want to let go. The report states it is unclear whether the man was intentionally attempting to abduct the child.

The Sheriff's Office also reminds fairgoers to report any suspicious behavior at the office in the Muckle Building on the west side of the fairgrounds.
